The Agony of Abel

The Agony of Abel

“Expressions of Empathy” (Volume I)
Oil on Paper
The load has become a hinderance. The burden has become too heavy to bear. Abel is down trodden, and near broken in spirit. Only his faith and belief can free him of the weight of the world which he carries on his shoulders. The heavy use of line and shadow is to depict the agonizing feeling of defeat in which Abel is weighted with. The light that shines upon Abel’s face is to express the brightness of a new life. Abel trudges on despite the deception he has faced, and the darkness he has gone through. He knows it is always darkest before dawn.
