We Reap What We Sow

We Reap What We Sow

“Expressions of Empathy” (Volume II)
Oil on Canvas Board
3′ x 4′
This composition was rendered in homage to the ongoing influence that has been conveyed by field laborers throughout art history. The strong statement being made by the laborers depicted in the works of master painters, such as Millet and Van Gogh, is equally as present in this piece. Bright colors are used upon each of the women’s flowing dresses and kerchiefs to exhibit the expectancy of a “fruitful harvest,” where the dresses themselves appear to be fruit-like (of bright red, yellow, and green). The movement of each woman’s garment exemplifies life, vitality, and spirit. (This painting was created by the influence of a musical piece composed by LORD TOPH entitled, “The Other Side of the Mountain.”)
