Yoonsil – Blue Violet

Yoonsil - Blue Violet

“Images of Yoonsil” (Collection)
Oil on Canvas
A straight forward approach is taken in this painting to translate the more direct aspect of Yoonsil’s
personality. She is painted wearing a blue top, and a red violet skirt. One hand is placed on her hip, and
one knee is slightly bent: much like the position many royal or aristocratic figures were painted in during earlier periods throughout art history (i.e., Renaissance, Romantic, Rococo, & Victorian). Blended vertical lines are used behind the figure to coincide with the “straight forwardness” of the expression on the face, and the assuredness in the stance. Cool green tones are applied to create a subdued contrast, giving the fair complexion of the figure more of an alluring presence.
